Mid-season break provides space for BJR to regroup

Brad Jones Racing welcomes the longer break following the Sydney SuperNight as an opportunity to regroup ahead of the run-home in the Supercars season.

A tough Race 16 saw Bryce Fullwood lead the BJR contingent in 18th, closely followed by team-mate Andre Heimgartner in 19th.

The Middy’s Electrical driver had contact on the fifth lap and was sent tumbling down the order and struggled to recover from that.

While Heimgartner in the R&J Batteries entry went a bit too long in his pit stop, meaning it was a challenge to hook up the fuel hose.

The #8 crew lost a significant amount of time in that stop and then Heimgartner struggled on his last set ot tyres.

However the #12 crew were able to fix Jaxon Evans’ comfort issues in the SCT Logistics Camaro.

Evans’ leg in yesterday’s race was quite a problem for the Kiwi driver and today he was able to race unhindered.

The SCT Motorsports Camaro finished 20th.

Macauley Jones was another that had a longer than desirable time in pitlane which cost him precious time.

Jones brought the Pizza Hut Racing entry home in 22nd.

Supercars heads to the Apple Isle from August 16-18.

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
"It was an interesting race. It didn't really go our way. Had a bit of a slow fuel stop due to going a bit long in the box. We have a bit to work out before we head to Tassie."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Electrical Camaro
"Another tough day here at Sydney Motorsport Park for us. Qualifying obviously is really close. Woulda, shoulda, coulda but would have been nice to have been a little bit further up. I think we probably could have done a little bit better job there. And that would have made it a bit easier today. Just unfortunately, sort of come off second best in an early altercation on track and just kind of run our race. But I think the car is pretty speedy. We just started to fall back today. So yeah, not the best. Not the best weekend for the whole group here at BJR. So we've got some work to do and looking forward to Tassie."

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro
"Tough day, that's for sure. I feel like I've been on a learning curve at the moment. Made some progress yesterday I thought the race car is not too bad but just as difficult to manage. Really is like everyone seems to be doing the same lap times and it's pretty hard to do. But a lot of strategy in that race just didn't quite work out for us"

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Logistics Camaro
"In Qualifying, I just didn't maximize it. Obviously tight further up the field, but we're still way off. That it's a little bit frustrating, but started the race from 23rd. And I got my best start, which was pretty cool, because then I was waving at people as I pass them on the way to turn one. Got caught and a bunch of the first few laps shenanigans, but in the end, I don't really know if we could have maximized much more to be honest, because my teammates were 18 to 19. So a little bit frustrating. Could feel my leg today. So that was big improvement. So thanks to the team for working on that. Saturday had a bit of an issue with the seat and my leg going to sleep. Same issue as Townsville. I would say 30 to 40 minutes of continuous driving my right leg was going numb because of a seat issue. And that's kind of what didn't help me yesterday, so struggled with tire deg yesterday because I couldn't feel the pedals properly. So that change  for today, which finally got a bit of relief, and it's much easier to look after tyres when you can feel the pedals."
