BJR Run Down previews Perth and ‘very random’ practice format

The Brad Jones Racing Run Down podcast looks ahead to the third round of the Repco Supercars Championship.

BJR General Manager Chris Westwood and Macauley Jones have discussed the session format in Perth alongside Supercars’ efforts to strengthen the chassis clips.

The Perth SuperSprint features just a single 90 minute practice session and Jones outlines the pros and cons to that format - from the lack of track evolution that the drivers will experience before going into qualifying to the different tyre strategies teams will employ over the longer session.

Supercars has also moved to make changes to the rear clips of the Gen3 chassis after a number of smaller incidents that led to damage to the clip.

Jones himself experienced one in Melbourne, with the clevis bending while the rest of the componentry in the corner of the car remained intact.

BJR iswelding a gusset to the joint at the clevis which Jones believes will make a ‘big difference’ in terms of lessening repair work at the track.

The BJR Run Down aims to give listeners an inside look at the Brad Jones Racing Supercars team and other happenings in the broader Supercars paddock.
