BJR Run Down predicts better racing product with Supercars’ Gen3

As the first round of the Repco Supercars Championship dawns, the Brad Jones Racing Run Down previews the Thrifty Newcastle 500 and talks about what went on at the Sydney pre-season test.

BJR General Manager Chris Westwood sits down with driver Macauley Jones to get his take on testing and his thoughts ahead of the first time the Gen3 cars will be on track in anger at Newcastle.

Jones predicts that the cars will be able to follow and can use a slipstream better than their predecessors, which should make for more interesting racing.

While the tight streets of Newcastle may not bring out the best example for the racing product, it will be a test for their reliability with two 250km races across the weekend and the circuit featuring large kerbs and a relatively bumpy surface.

The Supercars field faces a large unknown in terms of how the Gen3 cars will take to the aggressive street circuit.

Drivers will be on track from Friday (March 10) with the first practice session 11:15 AEDT.
