HEIMGARTNER POWERED BY R&J BATTERIES... AND A LITTLE ANCIENT VOLCANIC ENERGY IN DARWIN

Brad Jones Racing has two reasons to celebrate today. Not only is the team excited to unveil the R&J Batteries Racing livery for next week’s Darwin Triple Crown event, but today is also car #8 driver André Heimgartner’s birthday!

The Hidden Valley event has been designated as the official Indigenous round of the Supercars Championship for 2022 and all teams have engaged with artists to design liveries celebrating Aboriginal Culture in preparation for the event.

BJR worked with Jedess Hudson, a young emerging Indigenous Artist from Cairns in Far North Queensland on the design for the R&J Batteries Supercar.

Drawing inspiration from major sponsors R&J Batteries, Jedess created the artwork Lava Lines.

“The Undara Lava Tubes are situated on Ewamian country, which contain the remains of the Earth’s longest flow of lava originating from a single volcano. Volcanic activity formed these tubes over 190,000 years ago.

“The red and orange represents the journey lines as the lava travels and flows across the land. Each lava tube varies in length, size, and dimension with its own unique story. The dots embody the lava imprint within the tubes and the Lava flow contain powerful energy – the natural embodiment of the products that R&J Batteries are known for today.”

R&J Batteries Director Ray Robson said he was thrilled to see how Jedess’ artwork looked on Heimgartner’s Supercar and was looking forward to seeing it on track in Darwin.

“André has had some great results in the last two rounds at Perth and in Winton, and we feel the Lava Lines artwork Ms Hudson has designed not only fits the R&J Batteries brand but also sits well with the form André has been bringing to the track.

“We are proud to be part of the Supercars Indigenous Round in Darwin. The car looks fantastic, and it is such a great reminder of the journey we are making as a nation toward reconciliation and recognition of our First Peoples.”

The #8 car will also carry Heimgartner’s other 2022 sponsors in Cub Cadet, Blackwoods, Dormakaba, Timken, Hare & Forbes, Mongrel Boots, Summit Fleet, Adaptalift, and Scandia.

The amazing Indigenous livery is also brought to life by 3M Films and PPG.

Jedess Hudson is a young emerging Indigenous Artist from Cairns in Far North Queensland and a descendant of the Ewamian and Western Yalanji people of Northern Queensland. Jedess seeks to express her Aboriginality through her art, combining the traditional stories of her ancestors with contemporary artistic styles. The beautiful country and landscape of Australia provide her with an infinite source of inspiration. On her creative journey Jedess draws deeply from her traditional homelands. The land, seasons, bush tucker, flora and fauna are aspects that are inspired and incorporated into her art practice.

Growing up Jedess was taught to be aware of her surroundings especially in nature and analyse the things that make up our diverse landscape. The daughter of renowned North Queensland artist and musician David Hudson, Jedess and David have recently collaborated and exhibited Ancient Voices – New Beginnings - a diverse mix of David’s traditional storytelling style with Jedess’ contemporary perspective.
