The Bend beckons for in-form BJR

Brad Jones Racing have done their homework ahead of the OTR SuperSprint this weekend at Tailem Bend (August 19-20).

The final Sprint round of the Repco Supercars Championship, with three races across the two days presents a known quantity for the team.

Andre Heimgartner has had form here in the past, scoring his first and to-date, only win in the Championship at The Bend Motorsport Park (2021).

Heimgartner is fresh off his first pole position for BJR and third of his career and looks to continue his hot-streak of podiums.

In the last four rounds the R&J Batteries driver has made it to the rostrum five times, with six overall visits so far this year.

Across the garage, Bryce Fullwood hasn’t been too far behind in the #14 Middy’s Electrical Camaro.

Fullwood has also enjoyed success before at The Bend, making his podium debut here in 2020.

Making his 50th Supercars Championship round start, Fullwood is eager to build on the momentum the #14 crew have had this year.

The performances of Andre and Bryce keep the 8/14 garage in third in the Team’s Championship, with both drivers now inside the top ten of drivers’ standings.

Jack Smith, who celebrated his 50th round start in Sydney and was rewarded with the bonus points for fastest lap in Race 19, now sets his sights on how they can improve at The Bend.

Smith has marked qualifying as the area of focus for the SCT Motorsports team, with the 24-year-old making bold moves up the field in both Sydney races.

The #4 Camaro driver made up six places in each of the races in Round 7.

The Pizza Hut Racing garage will also look to build from Sydney, having taken the short turnaround as an opportunity to analyse their time at Eastern Creek.

Macauley Jones had an up and down weekend but is buoyed by the performance of the team as a whole and comes to The Bend with confidence.

The BJR crew will be on track for Practice 1 at 9:45 ACST Saturday 19, kicking off the action in SA.

What our team has to say…

Brad Jones
Team owner, Brad Jones Racing

“I'm really looking forward to Tailem Bend. It's a place where we've been on the podium before and Andre's had a race win here. Our cars seem to be working exceptionally well on any type of circuit, whether it's fast and flowing or stop start. So I can't wait to get back to South Australia.”

Bryce Fullwood
Supercar Driver, #14 Middy’s Electrical Camaro

“I feel like we're on a good run, we have a good trajectory, things are building nicely and it's all making sense for us. So really looking forward to this weekend at The Bend to keep working on where we're going and continuing the direction we're going down and yeah, hopefully it works at this track as it has done previously.”

Jack Smith
Supercar Driver, #4 SCT Motorsport Camaro

“Excited to head to The Bend, we had some big positives in Sydney., I think we just need to work on qualifying performance and trying to put that one lap pace together. That’s where we need to be. Then we can run further up in the races.”

Andre Heimgartner
Supercar Driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

“We come off another strong result in Sydney with a podium and pole. What we’ll look for this weekend is just a little bit more race pace - just eking it out. Our qualifying speed is not bad, so that's good. We’ll look to polish our weaknesses, I guess.”

Macauley Jones
Supercar Driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro

“I like the track at Tailem Bend, it’s a long flowing circuit and that kind of profile I really enjoy. Sydney was a bit up and down for us, but we took a lot out of it and looking across the strength of the whole team, we’re in a really good spot. I can’t wait to get out there.
