Soggy Adelaide opening practice doesn’t dampen BJR’s pace
Supercars track action at the Adelaide 500 for Brad Jones Racing.
Andre Heimgartner finished the session second fastest, with a time of 1:28.8728.
The pace proved a promising sign across the spread of the BJR Camaros, with the other three only being hampered by traffic on their final runs which led to them being further down the order.
The R&J Batteries driver’s garage-mate, Bryce Fullwood finished the session in 14th setting a lap time of 1:29.9137.
Macauley Jones, in the Pizza Hut Camaro, which dons a special livery this weekend designed by a 10-year-old girl, was 19th at the close of Practice 1.
Jones’ fastest lap was a 1:30.1477.
SCT Logistics’ Jack Smith finished in 21st, having been caught in traffic in the last few minutes of the session.
The wet running may be replicated for tomorrow, however the forecast is constantly changing in the South Australia capital.
Tomorrow see’s cars on track for a second practice session (12:35 ACDT) and qualifying for Race 27 (17:35).
Super2
Lochie Dalton in the AWC ZB Commodore is confident of his pace in the wet running today, finding himself in the top ten in both practice sessions.
Back on the scene of his Super2 debut Dalton enjoyed a fairly smooth running today and believes he has more in hand for the two qualifying sessions tomorrow.
The Tasmanian will be back on track tomorrow at 12:08 (ACDT).

Supercars Driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
"We thought it was going to be pretty dry today, maybe until the last one [session] before we actually race, so a bit of a spanner in the works. But good nonetheless to get some laps on the new tyres. None of us have really done any meaningful testing on it. We ran it at AGP and it was pretty difficult, you can only get halfway through a lap and then it sort of deteriorates. At a very different style of track. And I think we've learned a bit from then too. So yeah, it was good to good to get some laps in. And it will definitely be more the longevity of the tyre everyone will be working on."
Bryce Fullwood
Supercars Driver, #14 Middy's Electrical Camaro
"Interesting day today. Weather is a little bit up and down, all over the place. We were sort of probably expecting today to be drier than it was but that's okay. Well not too bad. I mean obviously, Andre went really good. We missed a couple of things but just using all our four cars to try things and we found some pretty good direction. So I think there's definitely some more speed in our car and pretty happy so far. So should be interesting to see what the weather has in store for us for the rest of the weekend."
Jack Smith
Supercars Driver, #4 SCT Logistics Camaro
"Today was all sitting around to be honest. A lot of preparation for a half an hour session which was wet. It was not a bad session for us, I think we took a bit longer to build up to it but once we got the hang of the conditions and the new tyre with these cars in the rain, it was pretty promising."
Macauley Jones
Supercars Driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro
" So a lot of waiting around for the car run. It was good to have a go on the new wet you know, a proper run on it which was good. I think the car balance was pretty strong. Just needing to phase it a bit better and a few areas to push a bit harder tomorrow which was always fun. "

"It was pretty good day. It was actually relatively good in the wet. The track actually had a fair bit of grip which is something what's not really common in these cars. We finished both sessions inside the top 10. We were pretty deep in the top 10 in the last session, and then I just didn't get my last lap in and then everyone sort of went a little bit quicker. I think we've got a good starting point for qualifying tomorrow."
