NED WHISKY TASMANIAN SUPERSPRINT RACE 3

Andre Heimgartner has equalled his best ever result at Symmons Plains, finishing Race 3 of the Ned Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint in 8th place.

Heimgartner narrowly missed out on a 7th place finish after his last lap stoush with Scott Pye saw him overtake and then ultimately lose track position again before the chequered flag.

Earlier in the day the New Zealander qualified 7th after finishing the second practice session of the day 2nd fastest.

Teammates Bryce Fullwood, Macauley Jones and Jack Smith all had relatively positive afternoons in the office with the latter at the receiving end of an excursion off the track after contact from Chris Pither. Despite the incident, Jones was able to recover to drive the Automotive Superstore #96 car to 19th at the end of 44 laps.

Fullwood brought the Middy’s Racing pink machine home in 16th, just ahead of Smith’s SCT Logistics entry in 18th.

Heimgartner said he was really happy with how the car rolled out and it had just been a case of tuning the car to the changing track conditions.

“I felt it was a solid day overall but for a few things which kept us from our full potential.

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully as we tidy up the pitstop issue and a few other small things we can walk away with some more good results.”

Dual qualifying gets underway from 10:35am with race four scheduled for 1pm. The Tasmanian SuperSprint will conclude with race 5 scheduled for 3:55pm.
