Fullwood’s homecoming a nod to family ties

The No14 Middy’s Electrical Camaro will represent family and the land of the Wiradjuri people at the upcoming Repco Supercars Championship Indigenous round in Darwin (June 16-18).

Driver, Bryce Fullwood, coming into his home round in the NT capital will have an incredibly poignant livery that speaks to his roots.

Brad Jones Racing has collaborated with the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation (MAC), with both organisations based in the Albury-Wodonga/Bungambrawatha region to produce the artwork for the livery.

Fullwood has been surrounded and supported by family across his entire motorsport journey, from his father who has been a key mentor and advisor over his career to the Middendorps, who adopted him as part of the Middy’s Electrical family over a decade ago.

Middy’s Electrical is Australia’s largest family owned and independent electrical wholesaler who have been supplying the electrical industry since 1928.

Middy’s have been fierce supporters of Fullwood since karting and have been beside him every step of the way to Supercars.

One of the core values behind Middy’s is family; they are a family owned and operated business much the same as Brad Jones Racing.

The stunning pink Middy’s livery has been transformed for Indigenous Round by local Elders who participate in MAC’s Planned Activity Group (PAG).

The purple flower that MAC’s artists have beautifully created is symbolic of that family theme that runs so deeply through BJR, Middy’s and the Fullwoods.

While the aqua green flower represents Elders in the community that we look to with respect and for guidance; inspired by the incoming NAIDOC week (July 2-9) theme of ‘For Our Elders’.

The Murray River, the beating heart of the Bungambrawatha area is present across the design running in blue lines.

The incredible design has been applied to Fullwood’s car with 3M film and thanks to PPG paint.

MAC aims to provide culturally appropriate services and to connect and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to become more confident, take control of all aspects of their life and create pathways to a better future.

“My family and the Middy’s Electrical family have supported and given me strength over my entire racing career and the theme resonates strongly with me.

“We’ve achieved some good results so far this year and have had some very positive signs and some definite pace, so that gives me a lot of hope coming into Darwin. I’m very excited for this round and feel like we have quite a bit of potential.

“We stand alongside Bryce and Brad Jones Racing, united by our shared family values and passion for success. Together, we celebrate the power of family, community and country.”

Carl Tunstall
Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation
“BJR’s General Manager Chris, approached Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation in mid-April to see if we would like to be a part of designing the Indigenous design livery for BJR’s cars. After having a think about which MAC program should design the Indigenous livery, the Planned Activity Group (PAG), which is a social group for our local Elders that promotes physical activity, cognitive stimulation, good nutrition, emotional wellbeing and social inclusion, was the main choice, as it aligns with this year’s NAIDOC theme - ‘For Our Elders’.

“Over the next few PAG meetings the Elders worked on the design, with a few of the Elders expressing to MAC staff that they had “a new lease on life” after being given the opportunity to participate in this project. All the Elders who participated in the project are excited to see the final results of their work”.
