Heimgartner Welcomes Scandia To The Bonnet Of #8

Winter is coming! And along with it the arrival of Scandia at Brad Jones Racing.

An Australian-owned family business for over 70 years, Scandia are the experts in designing wood and gas burning fireplaces and stoves specifically for Australian conditions.

Fittingly “the power of fire” will adorn Andre Heimgartner’s #8 R&J Batteries Racing entry for three events as Australians settle into Winter – the Melbourne 400 at the Formula One Australian Grand Prix, the Perth SuperNight and Winton SuperSprint.

Scandia will take over the position on the #8 car from Cub Cadet who will resume the spot for the Darwin Triple Crown in time for the warmer, grass-growing friendly months leading into Australia’s springtime.

Heimgartner said he was looking forward to getting back onto the Albert Park circuit this week following a disappointing result in Tasmania.

“We were pulled into a few incidents not of our own doing but that, as they say, is motor racing," the young Kiwi star said.

“It's been a while since we've had the Formula One guys down under so I'm expecting it to be a great weekend full of as much entertainment off track as on it. Our challenge is to ensure we don't let those distractions get the best of us and to really work to get the car where we've shown we have the potential to be - right up the pointy end.

“It will also be interesting to see the improvements to the track since the last time we raced there in 2019. Several corners have been removed, most notably creating one big, long (and fast) back straight. The entire track has also been resurfaced. I've always enjoyed the Albert Park circuit and it's one where the BJR cars always tend to have some good results.

“After Tassie we're going to be trying to stay out of other people's drama and hopefully get some clear air to walk away with some solid points and show what we're made of!”
