BJR positive after Friday running in Perth
Brad Jones Racing is heading in the right direction after completing practice at the Perth SuperSPrint.
Andre Heimgartner in the #8 R&J Batteries Camaro finished the session inside the top 10, being the seventh fastest driver in the field.
Heimgartner had shown some serious speed throughout the session, appearing at the top of the time sheets near the mid-way mark.
The single 90 minute long practice session saw a bit of action with a few cars running off the road and causing some stoppages.
One of these was the newly golden printed Macauley Jones in the #96 Pizza Hut Racing, which hurt his session from then on, having to use another green set of tyres earlier.
Jones ultimately finished in P24 and will take stock of their running ahead of qualifying tomorrow.
The #14 Middy’s Electrical car with Bryce Fullwood aboard finished in 18th, however Bryce racked up an impressive 62 laps - the most of the entire field.
The #14 side focussed on a bit of race running and weren’t able to get a representative fast lap in in the end.
SCT Logistics Jack Smith was 25th by the end of the session, however Smith feels that the session was overall productive for the #4 garage.
Smith was disappointed that weren’t able to find the time in the end but is positive about their direction.
The Brad Jones Racing team now prepares for qualifying tomorrow morning at 11:10 AWST for Race 7 in the afternoon (15:45 AWST).

Lochie Dalton and the BJR Super2 crew dialed in the #43 ZB Commodore over the two practice sessions.
Dalton came to Perth fairly confident in the crew and car, with the team having a fair idea of setups due to it’s running in the maingam the previous year.
The Tasmanian leaped from P10 in the first session to end the day in P3.

"Practice was good overall we learned a lot, I think we're pretty clear on where we need to go which was good. Just need to keep chipping away, look some things tonight and see if we can improve a little bit for tomorrow. The 90 minute session was interesting it was not bad, not good but it was just one of those things. Very different to what we normally do and I had a break sort of halfway through the session anyway so it kind of ended up being two sessions but I think if the car's going alright it's good."

"Obviously the long practice was very different from what we've had but was kind of cool in some ways to have a little bit of time to think about things through the session. We did a lot of laps actually and fair bit of race running, which I think we'll have learnt a bit for the races. We didn't quite get a good reflection of where we are - just a lot of cars out there and we didn't quite get our lap in properly. So I'm not really sure where we stand but I think there's still a little bit of work to do, but looking forward to racing tomorrow."

"We made really productive progress with the car actually. We went the right direction. But the last few laps with our tyres, we had some issues. So I don't think it was really a true reflection. Overall I'm mostly happy with the session with the the progress we made with the car. It's just disappointing that the time wasn't there in the end. "

"I feel like we probably tried a bit of a different balance to start with and I wasn't overly confident with the braking and I made a mistake there at the start which hurt a bit of the flow of the session. We had to use a green tyre which we didn't really want to at that time and so it sort of hurt us a bit later. But we made some good positive changes and found a bit better balance. Just getting the braking confidence for me is the biggest thing, the attack in the corner is a bit of a tough one but I think we're moving it in a step in the right direction. It's pretty chaotic out there. With the quali format at the end we're on green tyres, phasing is quite difficult - it's a short track and a lot of cars so that was a challenge. 90 minute session was a long session like I probably prefer the two half an hours where you don't feel rushed or you can get out of the car and actually sit down with your engineer and talk about things or direction and reset but I mean, 90 minutes in a race car can't complain it's always fun."

"I think we sort of had a rough idea coming to Perth for a setup, just from the boys from last year. And then just throughout practice one, we just fine tuned the car. We actually made a lot of changes. So it was a really productive session. So that was good. We ended up p10 we sort of knew that there's a bit more in it. And then in the second practice the car felt great on old and new tyres, and we ended up third and I think going into quali tomorrow we should be pretty good."
