RECAP – The weather gods were unfortunately not on our side for practice one at Pukekohe. As soon as lights went green, we also saw the rain roll in. Nick proceeding with his out-lap, then returned into the garage as the team decided to save on tyres. The rain continued for a further ten minutes making the track surface extremely slippery. During this time Richie Stanaway bought out a reg flag as he contacted the wall. As conditions deteriorated the team decided to save their wet tyres for the race over the weekend meaning Nick didn’t re-join the practice session and complete a lap time.

Nick ended the day on a positive note, finishing practice two in position 5. The track had dried up with no rain throughout the session. Finishing only two tenths behind Holdsworth who was fastest in the session. With the introduction of the Holden aero changes Nick could feel a significant difference already. Although struggled with lack of grip and a strong vibration on his front splitter. With plenty more still left in the car Nick is positive he can find those extra tenths. One final practice tomorrow morning before qualifying and 200km of racing tomorrow.

“I am happy with how car 8 performed today. The crew did a good job going through our test program and dialling the car to the wild Pukekohe circuit: I think the new Holden aero tweaks have been positive and we will continue to unlock the full potential as the weekend goes on.”
