RECAP AND WORD FROM NICK
The sun was shining for the final day of racing at the picturesque Phillip Island circuit, and for the Holden teams, they would all be on the hunt for the Mustang’s, and whilst a few got close, no-one was able to stop them today.
Nick improved on yesterday’s qualifying performance and started todays race from 12th position. In an incident-free race Nick drove the 7-Eleven Supercar forward again, finishing in 10th position. For Nick, this was his first all top ten result weekend at Phillip Island since 2014.
Nick sits in 7th in the drivers’ championship, with the points still quite close between drivers. For the 7-Eleven driver, and team-mate Tim Slade in the Freightliner Racing Commodore, they are currently third in the teams’ championship. Next up, the Brad Jones Racing team head across Australia to Perth, where they are set to host this year’s SuperNight race event.
“We chose the wrong strategy today. We moved ahead with the 7-Eleven Supercar but it wasn’t as much as we potentially could have.”
“It’s nice to finish the weekend with two top ten results and to be sitting in a good spot in the championship, but I really want us to be going better and working towards getting closer to the top 5.”
“Perth will be interesting with the resurfacing and night race, so looking forward to a quick break then getting over there to see what we can do.”
