Timken are back on board the #8 Brad Jones Racing Commodore of Nick Percat for the grand finale of the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship - the Coates Hire Newcastle 500.

Timken featured on the #8 Supercar here last year, and after seeing the success of the inaugural event there was no doubt that they would return again in 2018. Only this year, the new metallic orange livery is bolder and better!

In his second season with BJR, Nick Percat is heading into the final round sitting 10th in the championship. Nick has had a strong year behind the wheel, finishing inside the top ten 17 times; with two of those being podium finishes.

Nick Percat said “This year we head back to Newcastle knowing what to expect; a huge event with massive crowds and undoubtedly some nail-biting on track action in the final races. The track is fun to drive; yet provides a pretty good challenge for drivers to get right.”

“It’s fantastic to have Timken on board again for the finale. We’ve done a lot of work together with (Managing Director) Michael and the Timken team this year. I’ve been able to take part in drive days for Timken staff and customers, tour them through the garages at the events, and they love the experience and interaction with the team. Timken are passionate about motorsport and I know they’ll be cheering us home for a strong finish this weekend.”

“Even though it’s only Scott McLaughlin and Shane Van Gisbergen in the hunt for the championship, there are still plenty of championship positions to be decided. The teams’ championship is really close, so it will create some really good battles out there this weekend. Everyone is looking at who they need to finish ahead of in the fight for those positions.”

“Where we finish overall sets us up for next year in pit lane, and we’re looking forward to getting back up the order. We’re currently in 4th with two teams close behind, and we’re ready to challenge those in the hunt! I’m looking to solidify my spot in 10th and then build on that again in 2019.”

Managing Director of Timken Australia and ASEAN, Michael Pearson added “Timken is excited to be partnering with Nick Percat and Brad Jones Racing as the naming rights partner for the Newcastle 500 finale. Timken featured on the car here last year and the response we received was overwhelming, we simply had to do it again.”

“Timken has a proud heritage in motorsport in many categories around the world, in both supplying our world class bearings and as a technical category partner. We’ve been proud to support the team throughout a successful 2018 campaign and we’re looking forward to seeing Nick have a strong finish to the season in front of a huge crowd at Newcastle.”

With over 190,000 attendees at its opening event last year and more than 1.5 million tuning in from home, the streets of Newcastle will be fired up for one hell of a Supercars finale. The on-track action gets underway on Friday, don’t miss it!
