Top Ten Shootout to follow tomorrow!

Nick and Macauley were one of the few Supercars to run for the full time in both practice sessions today, opting to make the most of the rain and getting in valuable laps in the Repco Authorised Service Supercar for the weekend ahead. With the rain continuing to fall on and off throughout the morning, no-one knew exactly what was in store for qualifying this afternoon. Luckily, the rain eased and the track finally started to dry.

Qualifying saw drivers finally getting their first run on a dry track, which saw them finally getting to push their Supercars to the limits. A red flag with just under 10 minutes left on the clock saw all drivers (except Jack Le Brocq that hit the wall at turn one) return to the pits and get ready for a final dash to the qualifying chequered flag.

Nick pushed the Repco Authorised Service Supercar in the final minutes and qualified in 7th, putting him into the all-important Top Ten Shootout. Despite winning the race on his debut, this is Nick’s first ever appearance in the Bathurst Top Ten Shootout – an awesome achievement!

“We spent a lot of time on track today and it got us a lot of coverage because I could see myself wheeling the Repco Authorised Service Supercar on a few of the big screens as I was cruising around the track. We wanted to make the most of today even though the conditions were tough, just so we could get a feel for the track and spend time behind the wheel.”

“It’s awesome to have qualified inside the top ten and make the shootout tomorrow. It’s my first ever shootout here at the mountain so I can’t wait to get this place to myself for one lap and see what the Repco Authorised Service Supercar can do. I’ve seen first-hand how the crowd get here during the shootouts, and now I’ll get to be the one on track rather than cheering everyone on from the sidelines.”

“It’s a nice achievement not only for me, but for the guys that put so much time and effort into working on these cars. The team compete in the pit stop challenge finale tonight, so time to go cheer them on and see if they can take the golden rattle gun award back to Albury!”
