THE RECAP

The opening 120-kilometre race of the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint was held today, with the sun shining from the green light to the chequered flag. Nick had his work cut out for him during the first lap battle, losing a couple of spots. Nick was able to work his way back through the field in the 39-lap race in the Summit Racing Supercar thanks to the speed of the crew and timing of the pit stops.

Nick rounded out the top ten today, moving up a spot in the championship in the process. He is now only 26 points behind 10th place sitter James Courtney. Tomorrows’ goal - a great finish and to move further forward in the championship!

THE WORD FROM NICK

“I thought we found a good direction with the Summit Racing Commodore and I was happy to qualify inside the top ten again. The car felt like it was a little outside the window of where we needed it to be, but we’ve worked bit by bit to get it back.”

“I thought the team did a great job during the race to get me back into the ten after I lost out on a few battles on the opening lap, dropping a couple of spots. It wasn’t the start to the race I wanted but we were able to gain back all but one spot.”

“We’ll be aiming to qualify inside the top ten again tomorrow and see what we can do over the longer 200-kilometre race.”
