THE WORD FROM NICK

The sun shined on Townsville today for the final day of the 10th anniversary Supercars event here at the Reid Park circuit. Nick qualified 10th, which put him into the fan favourite - Top Ten Shootout. With one lap to decide the final starting order, Nick was out first and put in a flying lap, managing to go faster than both Walkinshaw Commodores to move into a starting position of 8th.

Nick had a tough start to the race and struggled for balance in the car, so the team worked quickly to make a change in his first stop on lap 24. The team opted to pit Nick earlier than planned for his second and final stop, which would mean he would do the longest stint home, 27 laps, on his Dunlop tyres. Nick fought his way home to finish in 14th, and now sits 12th in the championship.

With another event in the sunshine state of Queensland in just under two weeks’ time, the team will continue on in Townsville for a couple of days to prepare the Supercars, then make their way to Brisbane for the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint.

NICK

“It was great to make another shootout today, it’s always a good time when you have the track to yourself, and I always talk highly of the Townsville street circuit.”

“The Dunlop Supercar struggled in the race today, we tried to make a couple of changes in the first pit stop to improve the cars balance and bite, but it didn’t give me quite what I needed. It was a pretty disappointing end to the weekend, we really didn’t expect to go backwards today. We’ll be keen to go through everything from the weekend when we debrief later this week and see what we can improve on for QR in two weeks.”
