Dunlop Tyres are thrilled to present the Dunlop backed Brad Jones Racing Holden ZB Commodore which will be driven by Nick Percat at the Watpac Townsville 400 this weekend. This new 2018 design also includes Dunlop Super Dealer and Beaurepaires branding as key retailers of Dunlop Tyres.
Dunlop Tyres have been an integral part of Australian Motorsport for 70 years, with their industry-leading innovative tyre designs and development keeping them at the forefront of technology across multiple racing categories. Dunlop Tyres have supported BJR over the years and 2018 marks their 17th season supplying the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
Kim Jones said “BJR and Supercars have a great relationship with the team at Dunlop. They are a key player in our sport and like us, are always striving to be the best in their game and put on a great show for the fans. Kevin Fitzsimmons and the Dunlop Motorsport team that work alongside Supercars at each event provide a world-class service to all the teams in pit lane.”
Nick Percat added “The Dunlop Racing Supercar was one of my favorite liveries from last year. The response the team had, as well as Dunlop was fantastic. Dunlop is such a recognised brand, so it really resonated with Supercar fans. We’ve changed it a little bit for this year, with a brighter yellow and a flash of fluorescent red!”
“Townsville always provides close qualifying and racing. With two 200-kilometre races on the agenda it provides a good challenge for teams to get their strategies right on both days. We’ve seen less safety cars in recent years, but when they pop up, you generally see them more than once.”
“The Townsville circuit is very demanding of the left rear tyre. The BJR Supercars look after the tyres quite well, so if we end up doing a long stint, I know I can rely on the Dunlop Tyres. The performance of the tyres this year has been fantastic. It gives you the confidence to push and pass cars, which is the racing that everyone wants to see.”
“Now that we’re over the half way mark of the 2018 Championship, it’s nice to reflect a little and know we’re in a better spot than this time last year. We’ve been in two of the three Top Ten Shootouts this year, and I’m eager to qualify the Dunlop Racing Supercar in it for Sunday.”
Senior Brand Manager for Dunlop Tony Kiernan added “It is going to be an exciting weekend of racing at the Townsville Watpac 400. It’s fantastic to have Nick Percat racing in Dunlop colours again in the Virgin Australia Supercar Series and the young guns in the Dunlop Super2 Series always provide exhilarating door-to-door racing.”
“Dunlop continue to be a proud supporter of Australian Motorsport and really thrive on the long-standing relationships we have with the likes of Brad Jones Racing and Supercars.”
