“It was fantastic to reveal the Freightliner / Alliance Truck Parts Commodore this morning. The crew had a super early start to capture the stunning sunrise photo we got to share with you all, and as you can see… it was worth it! We’ve had a great response to having two cars in almost identical liveries today, and the team are pretty excited that we’ve got double the change to get Freightliner on the podium this weekend. With a few of our Freightliner friends here this weekend, it’s great to have them cheering us on and hopefully we can put on a great show for them.”

“Here at Darwin the corners range from one extreme to the other. We go from a high-speed approach into turn 1 where we are tapped out on the rev limiter at about 285 km/h in sixth gear, to the turn 6 hairpin where it’s first gear and about 45 km/h. Ironically, these are also the two main passing opportunities on the circuit.”

“I’m expecting that we’ll be affected by very high tyre degradation due to the heat and it can be easy to overheat the tyres very quickly. During the race it’s important to be smart in how you drive the car to use up as little of the tyre as possible.”

“With most cars running on practice only tyres today, no-one has a clear gauge of where we are just yet. It’ll all shake out in qualifying tomorrow.”

“It’s been a big operation to get the DrillPro Commodore ready for this weekend. The team have put in a lot of hours and we’ve all been pretty excited to hit the track today.”

“The wild card initiative is a great thing to be a part of, the Hidden Valley circuit is a great challenge so it’s nice to be back here for the second year in a row.”

“Today was about getting comfortable with the car and sorting out any little issues we may have found with the car. It’s never been on track since the build into the ZB, so its out first chance to try a few things and get settled with the car; then we’ll push on for qualifying tomorrow.”
