It was a cold, wet start to the opening day of the Winton SuperSprint event, with additional drivers heading out for their first session of 2018 in the slippery conditions. The rain continued for the main drivers first practice session, but with clearing conditions for the final session of the day, the drivers were able to press on and get back to their usual pace.

Macauley did a great job in the wet conditions this morning, finishing in 3rd, then Nick repeated the result for the final session of the day. One final practice session is on the agenda tomorrow, followed by qualifying and the first race of the weekend.

“I enjoy the Winton circuit, had a lot of success in other categories, been on the podium here in Formula Ford, Carrera Cup and Super2, so to do that here in a Supercar would be awesome. Definitely want to tick that off my list.”

“I like the way the BJR cars work here. We’re back using the same 2016 Dunlop tyres that team-mate Tim Slade had success on, so we’ve gone back through those notes and taken what we can from it to use this weekend and put our best foot forward.”

“Each session we do, the better we get. Slade and I have such a similar driving style that we can tune the cars quite quickly. We both try a couple of different things, find what works and do our best to keep moving forward.”

“We’ve got a very good race car, and we want to be up there fighting at the front. We’re not there yet but we’re doing our best to bridge that gap and be consistent. I feel like we’re on the right path, I’m driving well and we’re in a good spot in the championship.”
