THE WORD FROM NICK

The Coregas Racing Commodore suffered splitter issues again this morning, seeing Nick qualify in last position for today’s final race.

The team worked quickly in between the qualifying and race session to ensure Nick wouldn’t encounter the same issues in the race. Nick worked extremely hard in the race and made a brilliant charge through the field. He was the biggest mover of the day, going from 26th to 13th!

NICK

“I have been getting some mega starts recently, great launch off the line and making up a few spots in the races. I think I passed about 5 cars on the first lap today! I was starting right from the back and with a couple of rookies in the field you can see they are still learning and taking it corner by corner. I was trying to think ahead of that and made moves accordingly. It was good to do a lot of passing in the Coregas Racing Commodore today.”

“It was one of the hardest cars I’ve had to drive with the splitter issue; it made me work really hard and I moved around a lot in the car, so my neck and shoulders are feeling it. Qualifying this morning was pretty disappointing to have that issue arise again, and worse!”

“We’ve got a lot of work to do before Perth in a couple of weeks’ time. Perth wasn’t great for us last year, so it’s been one we’ve already marked as one we need to improve on in 2018. We’ve got a few ideas we’d like to try, but it’s just taking time to implement them bit by bit. If we get a top 5 qualifying result or top 5 finish it would be as good as win for us.”

“We didn’t get the chance to show the potential of the Coregas Racing Commodore this weekend which was pretty disappointing for the team. The splitter failures caused a bit of havoc as the team were under a fair amount of pressure to try solve the issues in a short amount of time. They did a great job at rising to the challenge.”
