10:40-11:00 – Qualifying – Race Ten

13:50-15:30 – Race Ten – 250kms / 57 Laps

Nick qualified 13th for todays race, the first time he had been outside the top ten this weekend. The Coregas Racing Commodore had shown strength by looking after its tyres during the previous practice sessions, so the team were confident the cars would be strong in the race.

After a blistering start, Nick was up to 10th by the first lap, even going side-by-side with Will Davison for the majority of the first lap. He called it an ‘epic drive’ to get the 250km race underway. By lap 3 Nick was advising the team he had splitter issues and a little over the half way mark, the splitter failed. When Nick came in for his second pit stop the team fitted a new one, however shortly after re-joining the field Nick advised the crew that the issue was still apparent and had to pit again for further repairs.

The team sent Nick back out with a couple of laps remaining to ensure we would be classed as a race finisher. Disappointing for the Coregas Racing team to go from a potential top ten finish to 26th. The team will regroup tonight and ensure we come out swinging tomorrow!
