Race 24 – 200kms/70 Laps
Winner: Jamie Whincup
The sun shined on Pukekohe today, which saw race fans turn out in force to see the Supercars blaze around the New Zealand circuit for the final day of racing. Times were ridiculously close, with not even 0.4 seconds between Nick and the front row of the grid.
Besides the lap one incident where three of the Prodrive Falcons collided, tangling up themselves and a number of other cars, the race was run without safety car. The team made changes to help Nick work on the balance throughout the race, with the car improving as the laps were ticking over. Nick was the best of the Brad Jones Racing cars today, bringing home the Harley-Davidson Commodore home in 14th.
The team now look forward to the final round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at Newcastle. This is a new circuit, and therefore will bring a new challenge for teams and drivers alike. With the championship still to be decided we have a feeling it’s going to be a cracker of a 2017 finale!
