THE ENGINEERS WORD

“Todays practice sessions focused on getting the balance right in the car, with the mix of high speed and low speed corners at Pukekohe, we need to help Nick get a good balance to confidently push the car through both.”

“Tyre phasing will be important, it seems that most drivers got the most out of their greens on the first flying lap, but couldn’t quite replicate that speed on their second flying lap. The pressure will on the drivers for qualifying, as it’s usually less than a second separating the field, so any error will cost them. Nick showed some great pace today, sitting in the top ten for most of the second practice session.”

“The race format for the weekend has changed, so we’ve got 2 x 200km races (one Saturday & one Sunday) rather than the previous sprint format. With rain forecast for the majority of the day tomorrow, it’s going to be interesting to see how the drivers and teams fare. The rain, strategy and qualifying will all play a part in tomorrows’ result.”
