THE WORD FROM NICK

It was a big day of qualifying for the Mongrel Boots drivers Nick and Macauley, with a qualifying session, followed by two qualifying races, which determined the starting grid for the 500 kilometre endurance battle tomorrow. Both Nick and Macauley kept out of trouble, and hovered inside or around the top ten all day. With a starting position of 10th tomorrow, there are plenty of laps to work their way forward tomorrow.

NICK

“Qualifying was good and it was nice to finish up in the top ten after the races for the grid. It shows the car setup and preparation by the team was good coming into the event; as we haven’t had much opportunity to run in dry weather and tune it accordingly. It’s a good effort to come out of the gates and be fast.”

“Macauley got pushed around a bit in his race, but worked hard and brought the car home straight. There was plenty of action in the co-driver race.”

“In the final race, I managed to get a good start and pass a few people. We’re just looking to maximise our pace and be consistent for tomorrows 500km race. Our plan will be to have Macauley start the race and then I’ll get in to finish. We’d like to work towards the front, and since we’re starting in the top ten, we’ll hope to get inside that top five.”
