13:15-13:40 – Top Ten Shootout
16:10-17:50 – Race 14 – 200kms/70 Laps
After another top ten qualifying result, Nick and the McHitch Commodore got a clean start to the race and were gearing to push for a top five finish. The car was fast, consistent and looking strong. Nick pitted on lap 23, with the team opting to take a long first stop for Nick, with 25+ seconds of fuel and tyres. Shortly after Nick re-joined he looked to pass Will Davison and unfortunately made heavy contact with the wall on the exit of turn 12, damaging the front left wheel. As he had just passed the pit entry when this happened, he had to complete another full lap with a flat front tyre, destroying the rim in the process. The team worked as quickly as they could to repair the car and get Nick back on track. Nick resumed the race in 24th position and over 8 laps down. It was a tough day for the team, however with promising momentum from this morning qualifying, Nick and the team are looking to repeat these efforts again tomorrow which would see Nick in the all-important top ten shootout and finish the weekend on a strong note.
