THE WORD FROM NICK

Qualifying in 11th yesterday, this morning saw one practice session before getting the first race of the season underway. As expected at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500, conditions were hot as the 250km race got underway with cabin temperatures rising above 50 degrees. Nick had a solid start to the race, maintaining position and producing consistently fast lap times. A race incident saw Slade and Percat swap some paint, which was no breach of the rules, but resulted in Tim making contact with a tyre wall and moving down the order. Nick continued to press on and make up a number of positions throughout the race, passing Craig Lowndes in the final laps to finish in a very credible 7th position.

NICK “It was an eventful race. Firstly, I’m sorry the incident with Sladey and Car 14, I thought we could get through the turn side by side but we didn’t. I’ll apologise to both him and his crew. It was a positive day otherwise for my guys at Team Clipsal, 7th is my best result here other than winning it last year!”

“I think finishing inside the top ten for my first race is a really good building block for the rest of the year, I’m working well with my engineers Paul and Danny and the rest of the team. The car is straight so hopefully not too much work ahead for the guys tonight and we can come back tomorrow and be fast again.”

“The cooling in the car was really good, I got out feeling much fresher than I thought I would.”
