There is only one way to describe the first two races at the Clipsal 500 today – HOT! With cabin temperatures above 60 degrees the drivers had their work cut out for them today. Jason stopped early in the first race for tyres and fuel, with a safety car called out a few laps later teams scrambled to complete their pit stops. Jason was heard on the radio mid-race saying the car was ‘so far so good’ however the teams with the fresher rubber seemed to come off better in that first race today. Brighty finished in P19. Jason had a brilliant start in the second race and like he mentioned yesterday, the car had the pace to run in the top ten, which it did with ease. Jason brought the Team BOC Commodore home in 8th place.
“I think we learned a lot in the second race today. I had a battle with Scott Pye mid race and the car got a little loose, I got the car settled again and managed to press on quite well. The heat was affecting everyone out there today and whilst at times we thought we were struggling everyone else was in the same boat. The car had good pace and with some clean air I think it will be better again, so I’m looking forward to getting out there for 250kms tomorrow.”
