Story of the day

It was a continuation of the handling instabilities suffered throughout the previous two days as Bright battled as hard as he could to get a strong grid position. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and the Team BOC Commodore finished up 24th on the grid.

As he did in the first race yesterday, Andrew Jones started and was pleasantly surprised with the handling balance after battling all weekend. Jones steadily moved up the field and handed the car over to Bright on lap 36. Resuming after the pitstop in 22nd position Bright also found the Team BOC VF Commodore’s handling balance more to his liking and set about moving up the order. By lap 72 he was up to 12th and holding his own in the field. Unfortunately a front bumper bar was damaged during the race and started to disintegrate forcing Bright into the pits for a hasty change and putting the car back in the field where it eventually finished in 19th place.

Driver Quotes

Jason Bright

“The car was a lot better than it was all weekend and the way the race fell we made up quite a few positions. If we were tuning the car from where we were in the race at the start of the weekend we’d be in a much better position. Unfortunately we were chasing our tail a little bit all weekend."

Andrew Jones

“The end result certainly wasn’t what we were after but I thought Andrew and Wally and Brighty – they never give up those guys and they kept chipping away late into the night last night and again early this morning after qualifying and I actually felt the car in the race was the best it’s felt all weekend. It was at least nice to have a reasonable car to finish off the weekend. Unfortunately we didn’t get the result of 11th or 12th that I thought the guys who work on the car deserved after a tough weekend."

Team BOC Co-owner Brad Jones

“We struggled all weekend to get a balance in the car and I think we probably achieved that today after qualifying. The changes they made to the car certainly improved it. Until the front splitter broke we were up there with Tander, Lowndes and more than holding our own. Really disappointing end to an extremely difficult weekend for car 8.”
