16TH APRIL: OFF TO EUROPE

BP SUPERCARS ALL STARS ESERIES

RACE FOUR – SILVERSTONE

TIME – 7:15pm

LAPS - 7

NICK FINISHED – Position 9th

TODD FINISHED – Position 15th

WINNER – Anton De Pascale

RECAP – We headed to Europe for Round Two of the Supercars All Stars Eseries. First up, two races at Silverstone before heading to Barcelona for a further two races to round out the night.

Nick and Todd showed some great speed at both tracks this week but as we now know, half the battle is to avoid the (entertaining) carnage and both drivers were caught up as innocent victims in a few spectacular virtual accidents!

The night kicked off with a shorter seven lap race. The boys started from position 18 for Nick and Todd 25th after an unfortunate qualifying penalty for excessive use of the curbs. Both cars got good starts and made solid progress with a fair bit of bumping and battling all the way through. Nick charged home to 9th and Todd crossed the line in 15th.

RACE FIVE – SILVERSTONE

TIME – 7:39pm

LAPS - 9

NICK FINISHED – Position 14th

TODD FINISHED – Position 10th

WINNER – Cameron Waters

RECAP – The reverse grid race is always an entertaining one to watch and this was no different! There was the predictable carnage on the opening lap with too many incidents to count. Nick and Todd drove beautifully though, navigating their way through the melee and gaining multiple positions.

After both pitted on lap five, they stayed out of trouble and crossed the chequered flag in p14 for Nick in the Super Dealer Racing Commodore and Todd a sensational effort in 10th.

RACE SIX – BARCELONA

TIME – 8:11pm

LAPS - 8

NICK FINISHED – Position 6th

TODD FINISHED – Position 16th

WINNER – Shane Van Gisbergen

RECAP – Now we were off to Barcelona and it was a great sight to see the virtual  Supercars on this popular F1 track. Nick got a clean run and didn’t put a foot wrong, showing his speed and crossing the finish line in a solid p6 - the best finish of the night.

Todd fell victim to that virtual carnage though in the Plus Fitness Racing Commodore and unfortunately was bumped and bashed to the back of the pack finishing race six in p16.

RACE SEVEN – BARCELONA

TIME – 8:35pm

LAPS - 11

NICK FINISHED – Position 12th

TODD FINISHED – Position 24th

WINNER – Shane Van Gisbergen

RECAP – It was another huge spectacle of virtual damage and destruction for the final race of the night with cars going off everywhere at the start! Todd was the hardest hit (literally) and battled through the whole race. The Plus Fitness Racing Commodore eventually finished, battered and bruised, in 24th. Nick managed to navigate his way through the carnage at the start and drove a clean race to finish in p12.

Next week we’re at The Mountain – Bathurst!

THE WORD FROM NICK

“Tonight was a better one for me, all things considered with the dramas I had with my sim and internet connection yesterday and today. I had mega battles and good race pace, finally! I have never been to either of these tracks and really enjoyed the fast-flowing characteristics of both tracks.”

THE WORD FROM TODD

“Round Two went ok after the last few days I‘ve had. I had huge computer issues which only got sorted this afternoon so was frantically trying to learn the tracks once I was going again. I really enjoyed Silverstone, cool track with many different challenges to put a lap together. Lots of high speed with plenty of passing opportunities which created some cool racing! Everyone has picked up the pace and brought a new challenge to the table this week. It felt very much like real life racing which is awesome.”
