RACE ONE – PHILLIP ISLAND
TIME - 19:17
LAPS - 9
NICK FINISHED - Position 7th
TODD FINISHED - Position 19th
WINNER – Scott McLaughlin
RECAP – After Nick qualified in 15th and Todd in 16th they started side by side for the first race at Phillip Island.
With several shunts off the start grid Nick climbed his way up to 8th and Todd making 9 positions to 7th.
No compulsory pit stops were required so it was a race to the finish around PI.
Todd having a full lock up and doing some cross-country driving dropped down to 17th.
Nick ending in 7th and Todd in 19th after his off-track adventures.
RACE TWO – PHILLIP ISLAND
TIME - 19:40
LAPS - 16
NICK FINISHED - Position 10th
TODD FINISHED - Position 19th
WINNER – Jack Le Brocq
RECAP – A reverse grid start based on finishing positions from race 1 had Todd up the front of the grid and Nick the midfield off the line.
A longer race with one compulsory pit stop.
Todd got off to a good start moving up to 5th but unfortunately not holding it and taking further off-track adventures on lap 2.
Both took their stops on Lap 10, coming out in 10th place for Nick and 19th for Todd, where they finished.
RACE THREE – MONZA
TIME - 20:17
LAPS - 18
NICK FINISHED - Position 14th
TODD FINISHED - Position 17th
WINNER - Scott Mclaughlin
RECAP – We don’t even know where you’d start with this one! With nearly the entire field crashing out on lap 1 – it was virtual mayhem! Not short of entertainment, that’s for sure.
Todd was the hardest hit of the two with a huge impact when Winterbottom rammed into him.
Both cars headed back to the pits to get repaired (a much easier job than real life!!!) and coming out to finish the race.
The first time we got to see Supercars at Monza and it was a sight to see,
a race that will be remembered for the most amount of carnage, no doubt. Nick coming in at 14th and Todd, batted and bruised, at 17th. It capped a fun night of entertainment for Supercar starved drivers and fans alike.
THE WORD FROM NICK
The racing was heaps of fun and I had some great battles with SVG and Fabs at PI. I took the approach of just finishing and staying out of trouble – well trying to anyway. I’ll need to work with my BJR engineers for the next round as I short filled myself by 4L so was on fuel save massively for the last 10 laps which is never ideal.
A big thanks to Dunlop and our sponsors for getting behind me, I hope you all enjoyed it at home. I’m so excited for Round Two next week and all the drama I’m sure. I’ll be more prepared and ready to go!
THE WORD FROM TODD
The racing was crazy, there wasn't too many clean passes and my rear bumper had more hits than Elvis last night. It was intense! Really tricky to manage the first few laps of the race and avoiding the incidents which I felt I did well.
I was able to get inside the top ten in all three races in lap one, so that's a small positive to take away from it all. I thought the racing and content created was pure gold, exactly what the people and families from home wanted to see and no doubt there is going to be more action and scores to settle from round one.
I was a little disappointed not to get better results but excited for what can be achieved if I get it all together which is my aim next week. I’ve got some new equipment on its way so I’ll set that up and be ready for round two.
Thanks to Plus Fitness and OLA for the support, hopefully I can get some better results next week.
