NICK

After a disappointing qualifying session, Nick and the team were fired up for race 3 in the R&J Batteries Supercar and didn’t they deliver! After a clever late pitstop strategy, Nick was in on lap 23 of 36 from 3rd - rejoining just outside the top 10 but with fresh rubber. Nick didn’t put them to waste, moving up the order to finish a solid 7th - up 7 places from his grid spot.

TODD

Todd had a strong race after qualifying just outside the top 10 in the Cub Cadet Mowers Supercar. The team decided to run conservatively with tyres today by pitting early to maximise the fresh rubber for the two races tomorrow. Todd crossing the line in p14

MACAULEY

It was a great qualifying session for Macca, with the Coca-Cola Racing Commodore grabbing p13 on the grid. A tough start to the race put the team in a difficult spot early on but Macca fought it out and finished in p15.

THE WORD FROM NICK

'I’m happy with how we finished today after taking a risk in quali which unfortunately didn't pay off and I started a lot further down the grid then I would have liked. But anyway the car felt strong in the race and I had fast race pace which helped me pass about 7 cars i think it was on track. Shame for the team as I know if we started further up the grid we could have been in a solid spot for a top 5. Hopefully quali goes a bit smoother for us tomorrow so I can show the real speed of the car and get some better points. We’ve got some good tyres for tomorrow so I’m looking forward to giving it another go.'

THE WORD FROM TODD

‘Solid day, I think p10 would have been possible but we just got caught in some chaos at the end and lost a lot of track position trying to scrap with guys who had better tyres than us but the good thing is by pitting early we have some really good tyres for tomorrow and that puts us in really good shape for the two other races. If we can qualify a bit better tomorrow there’s no reason we can’t have some good results.’

THE WORD FROM MACCA

‘Pretty happy with where we qualified but had a pretty horrendous start which put me into the wrong spots on the track and I lost a lot of positions on the first lap which wasn’t ideal. We had a good strategy and I thought the car felt pretty good when we put the new rear tyres on and managed to hold the car under us and took it easy on the tyre to help the tyre life. I think we did a good job and were patient as the race unfolded and made moves at the end of the race. Hopefully tomorrow we can have a better start and keep the tyres still and improve on the car for qualifying.'
