RECAP

After three days of tuning the CoolDrive Supercar was ready for 161 laps of the Mountain. It was, of course, a more low key build up this year but we knew that the race would deliver plenty of thrills and excitement. Unfortunately the start of the race didn’t go to plan for Team CoolDrive when the driver’s side door latch failed and Macca had to come into the pits on lap 4 for a fix, rejoining at the tail of the field and the better part of a lap down on the leader.

Now the drivers steeled themselves for a new challenge - to claw their way back into contention. By half distance car #3 was sitting in 14th position and settling into a strong race rhythm. Never giving up, Macca and Tim continued to push hard right to the finish, despite a mid-race spin, and crossed the line in 13th. If it wasn’t for the early issue car #3 could have been challenging for a top 10 finish.

THE WORD FROM MACCA

“It was definitely a long day. I think from the start we were on the back foot from the door issues that we have been having all weekend. But once we fixed that I think our speed over the day was pretty strong. It comes and goes over the course of the day and the balance changes and I think we kept on top of it pretty well and ran with the punches to start with. Once we got our lap back our speed was pretty good and we kept it safe for most of it. It was a long stint home, it was really good in clear air, we worked on it a lot over the race and managed to get it pretty strong.

Thanks to Tim, it was great having him back in the car driving alongside me. We were a strong team, unfortunately we just had a difficult day. Thanks to everyone from CoolDrive for the support it’s been a crazy year and I hope everyone is staying safe.”

SEE YOU IN 2021 😊
