PRACTICE RECAP

Practice four, exclusively for co-drivers, kicked off in overcast conditions that cleared in the second half of the session. Towards the end Jordan had an off at turn one, damaging the front driver’s side of the Cub Cadet Mowers Supercar but the team was straight on to it and fixed it just in time for practice five, with Todd and the team continuing to fine tune the setup for the crucial afternoon qualifying session.

QUALIFYING RECAP

After five practice sessions it was time for the all important qualifying session and a chance at the Top Ten Shootout on Saturday. Things were building nicely for a shot at the Shootout as the 45 minute session drew to a close but then, with just minutes remaining, a sprinkling of rain at the top of the mountain put paid to any chance of getting a final hot lap in and car #14 finished in p16. Considering the pace of the Cub Cadet Supercar it was a disappointing finish but as we know, you can win the Bathurst 1000 from anywhere on the grid. Bring on Sunday!

THE WORD FROM TODD

“Pretty disappointing day for us really and quali did not go how we anticipated which is very gutting. As we still had about 10mins to go I hadn’t got my quali lap in yet and then the rain started. It was too risky to push it and like most of the field I had to come in and unfortunately missed out on the top ten shootout. A tough pill to swallow as I was on pace for about the top 8 and the team had worked so hard to get the car ready after this morning’s mishap.

We’ll give her a proper tune up overnight and work tomorrow on our strategy for the big one. It’s not where I wanted to be starting our Bathurst but anything can happen. So it’s eyes forward, bums down and we’ll be driving hard to get the Cub Cadet Mowers Supercar up the front.”

THE WORD FROM JORDAN

“That was a tougher one today. I unfortunately lost the rear at turn one and went off this morning. Thankfully there wasn’t much damage and the car was back out in the next session. I had my super 2 race after that so thankfully I got some more laps around the mountain this arvo so I’m feeling more confident again. It’s just about finding the balance of where to push and where not to. Bummer we didn’t make the shootout but Todd and I will be fighting come Sunday.”
