PRACTICE RECAP

After some overnight changes the R&J Batteries Supercar was straight on the pace in practice four - exclusively for co-drivers. Thomas Randle finished the session comfortably in the top 10 in p6, In practice five Nick continued to refine the setup to get car #8 just right for qualifying. There was a slight spanner in the works however at the end of the session when a power steering pump failed but it was fixed with plenty of time to spare before qualifying.

QUALIFYING RECAP

With the knowledge gathered from five practice sessions over the past two days, it was time to put it all on the line for a shot at the Top Ten Shootout! The R&J Batteries Commodore was quick from the start and things were looking good as Nick held a position inside the top 10 for much of the session. Then, just as qualifying reached its final moments a light sprinkle of rain stopped any chance of the traditional flurry of fast laps. Thankfully car #8 was sitting in p10 when the rain came and that meant a crack at the legendary Top Ten Shootout!

THE WORD FROM NICK

“We had it all going on today, it definitely wasn’t an easy day for us, but we got through it. I’m so damn lucky we scraped through into the shootout for tomorrow. Because of the rain I didn’t actually get a quali lap in like most of the field which is disappointing especially for the fans too. The last lap in quali is always exciting to watch so it’s a shame we couldn’t do that today. A few mechanical issues we need to fix overnight to make sure the car is ready for tomorrow. So thankful we got into the shootout and I’ll give it a good hard crack tomorrow and hopefully get the R&J Batteries Commodore in a great starting position for the big one on Sunday.”

THE WORD FROM THOMAS

“I felt a lot more confident behind the wheel today and felt like I had a strong co-driver practice session finishing P2. A few little niggles we’ll work on tonight and I’ll get some more laps in tomorrow to try and find a few extra tenths out of my lap. We’re so lucky to have made the shootout so I’m looking forward to seeing where Nick can put us on the grid.”
