RECAP
Saturday: Day one was all about tyre degradation. With just five sets of soft rubber available throughout the weekend it was critical to get the best from each set but the full 4.95km International circuit had other ideas, absolutely torturing the tyres - especially with the aggressive camber settings that a Supercar runs for maximum speed. Jack and the SCT MotorSports Supercar qualified in 21st for race 25 and nursed the car home in 23rd, with lots of valuable data gathered for a big double-race Sunday!
Sunday: With a few key tweaks in setup the SCT MotorSports Commodore was back in action on Sunday. From 23rd on the grid for the first race of the day, Jack focused on maintaining speed without damaging those very fragile tyres. In early for four new tyres, Jack settled into a rhythm for the long stint to the finish. Towards the end of the race car #4 was engaged in another cracker battle with Holdsworth, Davison, Jacobson and Pither - Jack nabbing p21 at the finish.
In the final race of the weekend, it was an action-packed start to the race with Jack successfully avoiding a bunch of incidents in the first couple of laps, moving the SCT MotorSports Supercar up to 18th. Jack pitted for tyres on lap 12 and rejoined in 19th for the run home. Jack managed the tyres well before an off in the last few laps cost some time and places and then a puncture brought him back into the pits. Jack brought car #4 home in 22nd.
THE WORD FROM JACK
“It was a tough weekend for all this weekend as everyone in pit lane struggled with the tyre degradation and I tried to manage it as best as I could. It was a big learning curve for me and I felt like I looked after the tyres pretty good and was still able to get decent lap times out of them. I got a puncture in the last race with a few laps to go which hurt us. I just tried to drive to a good rhythm and was focusing on my own race.
I’m looking forward to next weekend's round as I learn a lot faster doing double-headers at the same track. Forgie (engineer Paul Forgie) and I will go through what we can work on set-up wise to help our tyres for next week.”
