RECAP

The second weekend of Supercar racing in Townsville and another opportunity for Jack to continue to race hard and learn lots in his rookie year in the main game. Disappointment on Saturday in race 22 with a knock in the early laps damaging a steering arm and sending the SCT MotorSports Commodore into the pits for a lengthy repair. Back on Sunday and Race 23 from p21 on the grid. Jack got a good start and moved up to p19 in short order. In to the pits on lap 20 for four new tyres, Jack was sent back out in the middle of some typical vigorous Supercar battles. Wheel to wheel and door handle to door handle, with no quarter given, it was Supercar racing at its best. Jack in the SCT MotorSports Commodore Smith ended up crossing the line in p22.

The final race of the weekend and Jack started from p23, rapidly moving up to p21 in the early phase of the race. The team decided on the late pitstop strategy, which meant pitting on lap 19 – one of the last cars to pit. It was all change on lap 25 though, when de Pasquale’s Commodore hit the wall, triggering the safety car. A mad dash to the flag with nine laps of great action, the SCT MotorSports Commodore crossing the line in 21st.

THE WORD FROM JACK

“Little bit of a tough one today but we made some good progress. I had good race pace but was just fighting a little with the car. I need to work on my qualifying because at a track like this, quali is key so it’s like a domino effect. I had some great battles though and feel that my overtaking is improving so that’s a positive.

It’s been good to have these back to back rounds as I feel like I’m learning a lot more and at a faster rate. One week off now so we can go through everything and workout where we need to focus on to improve.

See you all at the Bend”
