RECAP

The first of the Darwin double-headers provided some great highlights for Jack Smith and the SCT MotorSports Team. On Saturday from 24th on the grid, Jack put in a brilliant drive, taking advantage of a great late pitstop strategy and moving car #4 up 12 spots to finish 12th! With limited soft tyres on offer this weekend it was always going to be tougher for one of Sunday’s races, Jack finishing 24th in race 14. In race 15 the SCT MotorSports Team again decided to use that alternate late pitstop strategy and just like yesterday it worked a treat. After bringing car #4 into the pits on lap 24, with just 14 to go, Smith rejoined in p21 but with fresher tyres and good car pace he moved up steadily, picking off those around him with some beautifully executed moves and bringing the SCT MotorSports Commodore home in an excellent 15th.

THE WORD FROM JACK

“I had a good day today on track, especially in the last race. I unfortunately only had one set of new softs to run so we decided to run these early and get as long as possible out of them before pitting late and putting the second set on. I managed to make up 4 spots at the end of the race and got some purple sectors in there which is a great progress for me.

All in all, I had a very good day and feel like we made some great gains today, I also got my fastest lap here at Hidden Valley so I’m pretty stoked.

We’ll go through what we can improve on more and get ready to go again next weekend.”
