RECAP
It was a tough Saturday for Macca and the CoolDrive Commodore after a mid-race accident resulted in significant damage. The team was up to the job though and got the car out in pristine condition for Sunday’s two races. The highlight of the morning’s two qualifying sessions was a terrific 11th place grid slot for race 15 – the final race of the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown. It was an action packed race 14, with Macca battling hard with those around him – eventually bringing the CoolDrive Commodore home in 20th. Race 15 from 11th and Macca was again fired up for a good run. After pitting early #3 scrapped with Heimgartner and Pither but the tyres really started to suffer late in the race, Macca never giving up though and battling to 18th.
THE WORD FROM MACCA
“It was a tough day for me today, the car felt strong early on but I struggled with straight line speed in the last race. I lost a position in the pits when pulling out then got caught up in some heavy traffic on exit unfortunately. Which is never ideal.
I managed the rest of the race as best I could but it just wasn’t our day. We’ll go through our strategy and get set to go again next weekend and improve on this weekends results.”
