TIME: 12:25
CONDITIONS: Sunny
FINISHED: Position 20
WINNER: Nick Percat BJR
RECAP:
It was a disappointing start to the day with a mistake in qualifying for Sunday’s first race relegating Todd to the back of the grid. Race one was a case of managing the hard tyres and keeping the Brut Military Grade Commodore in one piece. Todd crossed the line in 20th position. Joy for BJR though, with teammate Nick Percat winning the race!
RACE 12 / 32 Laps
TIME: 14:50
CONDITIONS: Sunny
FINISHED: Position 3
WINNER: Jack Le Brocq
RECAP: This was the race for Todd to use those super fast soft tyres. From a competitive 12th on the grid, he immediately began to scythe his way through the field like the proverbial hot knife through butter - getting up to 5th by lap 5. It took till lap 16 before the team brought the Brut Military Grade Commodore into the pits, by which point Hazelwood was sitting in P1. He rejoined in 9th and it was on! Nice fresh soft rubber and a fired up Todd! He was soon up to 5th and lapping quickly, grabbing 4th from Winterbottom on lap 22 and then with just 1 lap to go, in a sensational move, Todd snatched the final step of the podium from David Reynolds to round off a fantastic weekend for BJR!
THE WORD FROM TODD
“It’s pretty unreal. It’s been a long journey to get to this point and I’m super pumped we could get on the podium. Thank you to BJR and all the sponsors for giving me this opportunity. It’s bloody unreal. The devil eyes were on at the end there. I knew we had a fast car and I was frustrated in qualifying. It was just head down and bum up in that last race and we kept it clean and it was good fun! Awesome day for the whole team. I can’t wait to celebrate with the crew back in Albury.”
